Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually transmitted infections are diseases which spread from one person to other during sexual contact. It is found that these diseases are caused by bacteria, fungus and virus. Thirty different species of bacteria, virus and parasites are recognized as the carriers of these diseases. Chlamydial, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, chancroids, genital warts, genital herpes, hepatitis B and human immunodeficiency disease (HIV) are the common sexually transmitted infections. Among these, there are chances to transmit syphilis and HIV from mother to child either during pregnancy or delivery. Blood transfusion and tissue transplant are the other possibilities which favor the spreading of these diseases.

As per world health organization’s estimation one million fresh cases of sexually transmitted infections are reported every day. Teenagers and youngsters are easily prone to these diseases on account of their uncontrolled lifestyle. If these contaminating diseases are ignored, severe consequences will be the outcome. If individuals have any suspicion regarding these diseases STD testing is the best alternative. If they are confirmed by the presence of these diseases it is better to take suitable treatments meant for the same. Since sexually transmitted infections are really dreadful it should be treated from the beginning itself, so that treatment time, expenses and sufferings can be reduced considerably.

These sexual diseases are really a curse to human society. They can be controlled by making people aware about the dreadfulness of these contagious diseases. The world health organization has advised to conduct programs to control sexually transmitted infections before they get spread among the society.
